I understand that once I enroll, this payment is non-refundable. This payment not only covers the costs of my class materials, but also occupies a spot on my teacher's roster. All student materials will be sent to the teacher to prep and get ready for class use. If after enrollment, I have a scheduling issue, I can contact my teacher, and at the discretion of my teacher and Let's Play Music, a refund may be issued. I understand a 20% administration fee will be applied to any refunds. Additionally, materials are distributed only to students who are enrolled and actively attending a class. II. Curriculum:
This curriculum is based on folk songs whose content may be objectionable to some. The songs are included for the ‘mother tongue’ influence and the rich cultural heritage they carry. The textual content of the songs, whether deemed to be violent, scary, religious, or exclusive is not taught, endorsed, or emphasized. We adhere to the National Association for Music Education that the study and performance of religious music within an educational context is a vital and appropriate part of a comprehensive music education. The omission of such music from the school curriculum would result in an incomplete educational experience. Songs with possibly offensive text include:
Three Blind Mice: farmer’s wife cuts off the tails of mice
Boom, Boom, Ain’t it Great to be Crazy: presents an imbalanced emotional state as a silly thing
What do you do with a Drunken Sailor?: Original meaning is not today’s literal meaning.
Oooooo, Halloween: lyrics contain witches, goblins and being frightened
Halloween is Coming: mentions being full of fright
In a Humble Manger: a little stranger lies in a humble manger
Silent Night: mentions a virgin mother and a holy infant
III. Treats:
Teachers teaching Sound Beginnings, Let’s Play Music, or Presto may use treats as an incentive to practice or to teach certain elements in class. As a parent in the program, you may choose to decline these treats and provide your own alternative reward specific to your student. Additionally, a lesson in the 3rd Year suggests using Reese’s peanut butter cups as a teaching tool. Please be sure to mention allergies to the teacher in the “Notes to the teacher” section.
