Our Mission:
To enrich lives through the power of music.
Let's Play Music is a company that builds, teaches, inspires, and enriches. Based in Mesa, Arizona and started in 1998, we began with a desire to teach music to children in the best way possible. Today, over 450 teachers across the United States and Canada work with this same passion using the Let's Play Music method.
We pride ourselves in providing outstanding programs for developing the total musician. We empower our expert teachers with play-based curricula that develop talent, enhance intelligence, and deepen human connections.
About Our
Founders

Shelle Soelberg
Creator of Let's Play Music
Let’s Play Music began with a simple belief: children deserve music education that is joyful, meaningful, and grounded in how they actually learn.
Founder Shelle Soelberg has spent her career at the intersection of research, pedagogy, and real classrooms—helping children not just learn music, but truly experience it.
Shelle’s passion for music education is rooted in both scholarship and practice. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Brigham Young University and a Master of Music in Music Teaching and Learning from Arizona State University, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Music at Arizona State University. Her academic work is deeply connected to her teaching philosophy: that early childhood music education should be developmentally sound, sequential, and—above all—engaging.
As a lifelong advocate for high-quality music instruction, Shelle is Kodály-certified at Levels I, II, and III and serves on the Arizona Kodály Teachers Association board. She has presented her work and teaching approach at Kodály conferences, MTNA conferences, and NAfME conferences at the local, state, and regional levels, contributing to ongoing conversations about best practices in music education.
But Let’s Play Music was not created in a university lecture hall—it was built in real classrooms, with real children and families.
Over the past 25+ years, Shelle has developed and refined the Let’s Play Music programs to combine research-based methodology with playful, memorable learning experiences. The result is a program that supports musical literacy, audiation, and confidence while preserving what matters most in early learning: joy, connection, and creativity.

Let's Play Music Teacher Support Staff
Today, Shelle and her husband Dave enjoy working together along with staff: Julie Fischbeck, Jenny Smith, Symone Lund, Kendyll Maughan, Marnie Christensen, Darren Nicoll, Janalee Marriott, Heidi Priday, and Amber Uchytil. There are now over 450 teachers and 13,000 students nationwide. They have enjoyed seeing each of their 5 children, Sydney, Jess, Jake, Josh and Sadie, develop into musicians through the Let’s Play Music programs and now have two grand-daughters in the LPM programs. They work and live in Mesa, AZ and operate the business with sincere hope that it will be used to bring the joy of music into the lives of children and families, and that it will provide a fulfilling financial opportunity for teachers and music studios.
