Updated: Sep 12

Looking for a simple way to help your child practice piano skills without the noise?

The Quiet Keyboard is one of our favorite tools for fun, hands-on learning—no batteries or sound required!

If you’re in the car, or waiting at soccer practice, or just need a quiet activity at home, this lightweight keyboard panel is a perfect way to sneak in a little music learning anytime.

What is the Quiet Keyboard?

The Quiet Keyboard is a 14" plastic panel with a realistic layout of 15 white keys and 11 black keys. It's light, portable, and totally silent. You can use just one panel, or snap together six panels to make a full keyboard!

Six Easy Ways to Use It

1. Baby Steps and Leaps

This exercise, used in the 1st Year of Let's Play Music, helps students recognize skips and steps on the keyboard. Using Smarties candies, M&M’s, or small erasers or toys, take two pieces and place them on separate keys. Have the child recognize if they’re making a “baby step,” “skip,” or “leap.” Are the keys moving up or down?

2. Name That Key

Call out a letter and have your child point to the correct key. Use flashcards for extra fun!

3. Build a Chord

Say “C major!” and let your child find and tap C–E–G. This is great for learning chord shapes visually.

4. Finger Warm-ups

Practice finger numbers or tap short patterns. This helps build muscle memory without sitting down at a piano.

5. Play a Scale

Have your child find and tap out the notes of a scale; C major is a great place to start.

6. Interval Challenge

Ask for a 3rd or 5th interval and let them show it on the keys.

Bonus: Sing the interval, too!
