If you’ve ever seen a classroom full of kids giggling, singing, and moving together in perfect rhythm… chances are there was a Stretchy Band involved!
This bright, multi-colored band is one of our favorite tools for helping children feel the music. It’s not just fun—it’s a powerful way to teach steady beat, cooperation, spatial awareness, and prepositions through movement and play.
Made especially for Let’s Play Music by Bear Paw Creek, our large Stretchy Band (18-foot circumference) is perfect for groups of 12–15 adults or 15–20 children. Ready to stretch your creativity?

Here are some playful ideas you can try in your next class!
Feel the Beat Together
Music begins with movement! Have your class hold the stretchy band and step or bounce to the beat while singing a favorite Let’s Play Music song. Try “Rig-a-Jig-Jig” or “The Walking Song.”
Each stretch and release helps students internalize steady beat and strengthens coordination. They’ll feel the pulse of the music in their hands, arms, and bodies—making rhythm a full-body experience!
💡 Teacher Tip: Switch between slow and fast tempos to help students recognize tempo changes in a fun, physical way.
Learn Prepositions Through Play
In, out, over, under—music class becomes a mini language lab! Use the Stretchy Band to reinforce prepositions through musical movement.
Try calling out directions to the beat:
“Everyone go under!”
“Now pop out!”
“Step in and circle around!”
Students will not only develop listening skills and coordination, but also strengthen spatial awareness—all while laughing and moving in rhythm!
Build Teamwork and Connection
The Stretchy Band naturally encourages cooperation. Every movement depends on the group—when one person moves, everyone feels it!
Use it for circle games that emphasize unity and teamwork. Kids will learn that when they listen, watch, and move together, beautiful things happen… just like in music-making!
💡 Try This: During a calm song, have students gently sway the band together in time, creating a “wave.” It’s a wonderful way to teach ensemble awareness and connection.

End Class with Joy!
There’s something magical about ending class with a big, colorful circle of movement. Try closing your lesson with a favorite circle song while using the band—it’s a moment of joy, connection, and energy your students will look forward to each week!
